と返ってきます。

>gcc 以外にも binutils, kernel-headers あたりも入れておく必要があるかも。
この二つもインストールされています。
（というかインストールしなおしました。）

詳しいエラーメッセージは

checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... no
configure:error:installation or configuration problem:C compiler 
cannot create executables.

です。

rpm形式のものはインストールできていますが…
